Remembering Don Howorth

Some Thoughts and Remembrances on “The Duke of Delts” Don Howorth, His Training Methodology, and His Departure from Earthly Life      Even though I spend quite a bit of my time writing articles and essays for this blog, along with other writing projects that I have going on, I don’t spend that much time online.  As I have a feeling it’s the same with many of you, if I do get online, it’s not long before I’m down some rabbit hole of different posts, videos, articles, or whatever else it is that I get sucked into on the internet.  Then, once I come to my senses, I discover that I’ve wasted the last half hour or so doing little other than rotting away my precious gray cells, to paraphrase the words of that famous Belgian detective written by the world’s most famous British mystery writer.  But not being online 24/7 has one drawback, I suppose.  I’m often out of touch with the latest news in the bodybuilding/strength and power community.  ...

I can't remember the first time I laid eyes on Howorth's massive physique with those absolutely friggin' awesomely shaped "cannonball" shoulders of his, but it was probably sometime in the late '80s and early '90s, when I read about him in either IronMan Magazine  or MuscleMag International .  IronMan  had regular "Mass from the Past" articles written by Gene Mozee that had a couple of articles about Howorth's training*, and he was also mentioned fairly regularly in Vince Gironda's column for MuscleMag  not to mention in some of the articles of Greg Zulak for the same publication.
